The Quran, the holy text of Islam, has 848 pages and 77000 words. Who is the author? According to Islam, the scriptures were revealed by God Himself directly to the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, who became known as the “Quran”. However, what proof is there in support of this stance? How can it be accepted as true? Consider the facts.

Master of Arabic

The Quran is written in Arabic, so it follows logically that the author must be familiar with this language. Linguists agree that the language used in the Quran has word order, sound and meaning to deliver a greater message. This can’t happen without expert knowledge of Arabic.

Therefore someone who has only a basic understanding of this language cannot have written it. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was illiterate, so he couldn’t have been the one to write down the revelations. It’s very unlikely that someone unfamiliar with reading or writing could come up with a book like the Quran which is far more sophisticated than any other work in its time and continues to be relevant today.

No Claims of Ownership

If a book had an author, their name would be on it. There is no author’s name attached to the Quran because there was never an individual who claimed responsibility for writing it; nor did anyone stand up to claim authorship.

Unique Teachings

The teachings of the Quran went against what Arab culture at the time allowed in terms of drinking alcohol, gambling and ill-treating women. Our religion prohibited all those behaviors from taking place in society when it started presenting itself as a teaching being followed by Muslims everywhere.

Scientific Revelations

The Quran is not a book of astronomy, oceanology, zoology or geology. However it speaks of many accurate phenomena that science have proved to be true. For example most discoveries made with advanced technology in the 20th century were mentioned by Allah 1400 years ago in the Quran.

Allah, the Creator of all living things, claims ownership of the Quran. Allah explains in it that He reveals the Quran to us so we might reflect on its verses and those with understanding will be reminded. Take advantage of the free road map to life your Creator has provided.
